REGION 14 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT BEGINS MARCH 10 IN BAYTOWN

The Region 14 Basketball Tournament begins March 10 at The Arena at Lee College in Baytown with Kilgore College competing in both the men's and women's brackets.

The single-elimination tournament runs March 10-14. Tournament champions will earn automatic bids to the NJCAA Division I Basketball Championships.

RANGERS

The Kilgore College Rangers are locked in as the No. 2 seed in the Region 14 Tournament and will play their first game at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12. They will play the winner of (#5) Lee vs. (#7) Lamar State-PA.

Kilgore enters the tournament with a 25-5 overall record and a 18-4 mark in Region 14 play. The Rangers spent part of February ranked as high as No. 11 in the NJCAA national poll before dropping two late regular-season games after an 11-game winning streak.

The Rangers have been among the top teams in the conference throughout the season, featuring a balanced roster and one of the league's top defensive units. A deep postseason run would likely require a tournament championship to secure a spot in the NJCAA national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan.

LADY RANGERS

The Kilgore College Lady Rangers (#2) will open tournament play Wednesday, March 11, against No. 7 seed Angelina.

Kilgore entered the season as one of the favorites in Region 14 after winning the 2024 Region 14 Tournament and advancing to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. The Lady Rangers were also picked to win the Region 14 regular-season title in the preseason coaches poll.

Head coach Stephanie Williams is in her fourth season leading the program and has guided the Lady Rangers to multiple 20-win seasons during her tenure.
