Rangers, Lady Rangers basketball teams both win by large margins on the road

The Kilgore College Rangers and Lady Rangers both scored big conference victories Jan. 27 away from home with the men silencing a red-hot Tyler Junior College team, 74-49 -- and the ladies dominating a struggling Jacksonville College squad, 75-25.

With the wins, the KC men improve to 15-6 overall and 5-5 in conference play -- while the Lady Rangers improve their record to 10-8 overall and 3-1 in conference action.

The Jacksonville women drop to 2-13 (0-4) and the TJC men drop to 14-6 (6-4).

MEN'S GAME:

In Tyler, Willie Williams led the KC men with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Jamil Muttilib scored 14 points and Jamir Turner came off the bench to score 13.

WOMEN'S GAME:

In women's game in Jacksonville, Jordan Wright led all scorers with 14 points.

BryKayla Hampton, Perina Lieme and Tylissa Henderson were also in double figures.

Hampton and Pierre Lieme both scored 13 points and Henderson scored 10.

UP NEXT:

The Rangers and Lady Rangers will face Trinity Valley Community College Wednesday, Jan. 31 -- but at opposite locations. The Lady Rangers will face the Cardinals in Athens at 5:30 p.m. and the men will play TVCC at 7:30 p.m. in Masters Gymnasium in Kilgore.

The KC women are in third place in Region 14 just ahead of TVCC (13-4, 3-2), while the KC men are in fifth place in the North Zone of R14.  The TVCC men defeated Navarro College in Corsicana, 78-64, to improve to 17-3 (7-1) sitting in second place in the North Zone of R14.
