Lady Rangers lose to Blinn, TJC slips past KC men

The Kilgore College Lady Rangers struggled late in the game, losing to No. 3 Blinn College, 76-63. In the nightcap, the Rangers lost the lead late in the game to Tyler Junior College and lost by five, 58-53.

The Lady Rangers hung with No. 3 Blinn in the first half, leading by a point after one quarter, and only trailing the Lady Buccaneers at halftime by seven points.  In the second half, the Lady Bucs built their lead to as many as 18 points.

With the loss, the Lady Rangers drop to 10-16 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

The women will close out the regular season with three straight road games, visiting Coastal Bend on Feb. 22, Jacksonville on Feb. 28 and Panola on March 4.

TJC 58, KC 53

The Kilgore men gave up the lead late in the game and couldn't recover, losing to TJC, 58-53, at Masters Gymnasium.

KC led most of the game until TJC's Marcus Rigsby tied things at 48 apiece with 4:21 left, and the Apaches took their first lead since early in the first half half on a layup from Rigsby and a 3-pointer by Dariyus Woodson.

The Rangers got within one point with free throws by KC's DaVeon Thomas, but TJC answered with a three-pointer by Woodson with 1:20 left in the game. KC was forced to foul, and the Apaches put the game away by making three-of-four free throws.

With the loss, KC drops to 17-9 overall and 9-7 in conference play.

They travel Wednesday, Feb. 22, to Carthage to face Panola College at 7:30 p.m.
