Bio

JT Mackey returns for his second season as an assistant football coach at Kilgore College, working primarily with the wide receivers.

In 2024, Mackey helped guide one of the top receiving corps in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC), developing three All-Conference wide receivers — including Sam M’Bake, the nation’s No. 1 junior college wide receiver.

Before returning to Kilgore, Mackey served as an offensive graduate assistant at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, where he worked closely with the wide receivers and assisted on special teams. During his time at TAMUK, the Javelinas posted a 7-4 record and finished fourth in the Lone Star Conference (LSC). Under his guidance, Nate Dantley earned All-Conference recognition.

A native of Ennis, Texas, Mackey was a two-year starter at wide receiver for Kilgore College (2017–18), earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors his sophomore season. He was also a key contributor to the Rangers’ 2018 Triple Crown Championship team. After his time at Kilgore, he continued his playing and academic career at Emporia State University and later Texas A&M–Kingsville, earning a degree in General Studies.
