Snow College to become SWJCFC member in 2026

The Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) announced Oct. 7 that Northeastern Oklahoma (NEO) A&M College will be leaving as a member school at the conclusion of the 2025 season, making way for perennial national power Snow College to join starting Fall 2026.

Dr. Kevin G. Fegan, President of Navarro College and the SWJCFC said, "This is an exciting opportunity for the SWJCFC and our member schools. Our conference has a proud tradition of success in the NJCAA and adding Snow College only strengthens our league.  They fit perfectly with our member schools in terms of value they place on athletics as part of their institution. Adding Snow College is a positive move for the SWJCFC and for NJCAA football."

Of this change, Michael Landers, SWJCFC Chair and Navarro College Athletic Director, said, "We are thrilled to have Snow College join the SWJCFC.  The tradition and success of the Badger football program will be a huge benefit to our league.  They share a similar philosophy with our current teams in terms of the importance and benefits of college athletics on junior college campuses."

Snow College, located in Ephraim, Utah, will allow the SWJCFC to maintain its eight-team alignment upon the departure of NEO, who will be joining the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference scheduling alliance. NEO had been a member of the SWJCFC since 1995. Snow, which currently has no conference affiliation, historically is ranked near the top in the NJCAA. The Badgers have a national title to their credit in 1985. Snow also played in the 2006 and 2021 national championship game.

Snow College President Stacee Y. McIff said, "We are honored and excited to join the SWJCFC as we celebrate more than 100 years of Badger football. Snow College takes pride in our tradition of academic and athletic excellence, and we look forward to competing with conference members who share our values and commitment to developing student-athletes on and off the field."

Karen Johnson, Athletic Director, added, "Joining the Southwest Junior College Football Conference is an incredible opportunity for Snow College Football. This is a meaningful step that positions our program for long-term success while honoring the proud tradition of Badger football.  Our players will face some of the best teams in the country.   We are eager to build lasting relationships with the Texas schools as we grow the recognition of NJCAA football."

Under the provisions of Snow joining the conference, the Badgers will be a provisional member for two years during a transitional phase.  They will play a full league schedule and be eligible to compete for the conference championship and a regional playoff berth immediately in the 2026 season.

The SWJCFC schedule will be redrawn for upcoming seasons to include the Badgers and is set to be released in October. Snow is currently 3-2 this season, including a 26-12 loss to defending SWJCFC champion, Tyler.

Snow College was established in 1888 and has thirteen varsity sports that compete as members of the NJCAA. For more information about Snow College visit snow.edu. To learn more about the college's athletic programs, see snowbadgers.com.
